I was pretty sure something was up when Sanford's wife said she didn't know where her husband was, but perhaps he needed time away from his kids. That's a pretty nasty thing for the wife of a Governor with Presidential aspirations to tell a reporter about her husband.

And then a couple days later she said she still hadn't heard from him, but she didn't have time to talk because she was too busy being a mom. Another dig. Clearly all was not well in Sanford land.

Now, if the Sanford's have been trying to work this out over the last several months, why did he go to Argentina? Is visiting your mistress really the way to re-establish trust in a marriage which is trying recover from an infidelity?
