Gotta Love That Republican Can't Do Spirit

John Boehner style: “Government can’t solve this problem,”

It's from the I Won story at Politco
President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning - but he also left no doubt about who's in charge of these negotiations. "I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

Deep Thoughts

If you think about it, Tiger Woods is the Barack Obama of golf...

Is Agnosticism Possible?

Andrew links to this post:

This isn't just about semantics. Theism-Agnosticism-Atheism are not 3 points on the same line.

Theism is a belief in god (or gods) and atheism is to be without that belief. You either believe in god or you don't. There is no other position. It's not the same question as: does god exist. The question is do you believe god exists.

You can believe in god without knowing god exists. It's called a leap of faith. You can not know if god exists and not make that leap.

Consider alien abductions. I can't say i know they don't happen, so technically i'm agnostic on the subject. But i don't believe they're happening, so i'm also an atheist on the subject.

And there are those who don't know that alien abductions happen (again agnostic) but believe they do: theism.

This is Great!

From Felix Salmon via Ezra:
My first appearance on CNBC happened to coincide with the single most important event of the century: Bernie Madoff getting out of a car. So there wasn't much time to talk about anything substantive, although I did try to chide the network gently for being such a central part of the Madoff circus. Yes, the Madoff scandal is a big story, but a bail hearing? Not so much.

Fun fact: the newsroom erupted in spontaneous applause when Madoff appeared -- not for Madoff, but rather because Fox Business happened to be on a commercial break at the time, so CNBC had the live coverage to itself. Or something. Many congratulations to them, in any case.

Wrong Headline?

Ezra's post is titled: OPENLY GAY BISHOP TO DELIVER INVOCATION AT OPENING INAUGURAL SERVICE.

Shouldn't it be: OPENLY GAY BISHOP GOING TO HELL!
